I checked the iPhone Availability Tool @ 9:10 PM on Saturday (yesterday) and seeing the almost complete availability @ all stores in CA, I got my hopes up and decided to get an iPhone early on Sunday.
One thing I should mention about them checking that everything is okay, is that, apparently, your billing zip code has to match your phone number. I moved from MI to CA so my phone number starts with area code 248 and so the zip code (even though the bill comes to 94303 in CA) must be the old MI 48301.
Eventually I could not get the 8GB iPhone 3G I wanted because the AT&T bill payment was made too late/not processed yet…So there is a “Past Due” notice in the account. It looks like I will have to wait until next week or sometime during the week.
