First off, Terminal is like Command Prompt in Windows and Terminal in Linux. Apple made some changes in Terminal but the only thing I really notice is the tabbed windows. You can create a new tab by using the same hotkey that practically every tab-able app uses:
+t (command + t)
You can move (reorder) the tabs by simple drag&drop methods, and if you want a tab to become a separate window, just drag the tab out of the window.
To customize the look of Terminal, go the Terminal Preferences with the common
+ , (command + ,)
After selecting the theme, press Default.
